This is the story of us. Yes, a chronicle for others to read(and hopefully enjoy) but also a personal journal for us and for our children, so that we can come back and reflect on the memories of times passed and the paths our feet have trod.
It began nearly nine years ago, when a 17 year old girl from Pennsylvania, and a 22 year old fellow from Alaska met during a three week term at a bible school in Mississippi. We have since; courted, married, been gifted with two children, and striven to follow God in this crazy adventure we call life. Present day finds us crafting a homestead from our own ten acres of Alaskan wilderness. We own one dog, two cats, and four goats, as well as house and care for a friend’s sled dogs on our property. Our off grid cabin is still only half finished and we are far from being as self sufficient as we’d like to be but every project brings us a little nearer.
How long will we be here? We don’t know… This is our fifth house in less than seven years of marriage; and we have also lived in a motor home and an auto shelter in that time frame. We go where God calls us and for now that is here; reveling in the freedom that comes with our own land, raising our children wild and close to the earth. Every day brings gratitude for this blessed opportunity to live life in what, for some, might be the hard way; but to us is the best way. So, follow along with us on this blog and also on Instagram (@wandering_the_last_frontier) if you wish. We promise to post as often as we can drag ourselves from our busy lives to do so!
